ERIC ORCHER is originally from Brewarrina, western NSW. He has been living in the Yarrabah community since 2010 and working with Yarrabah Arts and Cultural Centre since early 2017. He is a proud Ngemba man, he still speaks his traditional language and goes home for ceremony whenever he can.

Eric designed the sealife print used on  conference bag supplied for the "Thinking Beyond Borders" conference hosted by Mandingalbuy Yidinji in Cairns June 2018. It depicts barramundi, stingray and turtle. The crosshatching is a traditional design from Eric's homeland, the dots represent sandbars and the swirl is currents or the water moving. Although Eric is not a saltwater man, he is learning these designs from what he sees in nature and what other artists teach him.

Eric's inspiration comes from his desire to improve his techniques and he wants to learn so he can pass on his knowledge to younger generations. Working at the art centre also gives him a regular income doing something that he really loves.
